Introduction

Gardening is good for the soil—and good for the soul. Springfield Dominican Sister Kristin Crawford shares lessons from the permaculture garden at Jubilee Farm with our Dominican Associate John Malanchak, who talks about the impact of gardening with persons with disabilities. 

 

About our guests

John Malanchak has been a Springfield Dominican Associate since 2017. An avid gardener who at one time found it difficult to be with people with disabilities, he now revels in sharing his passion with those very people he once shunned.  

Sister Kristin Crawford has been a Dominican Sister since 1978.  Last year she began a new ministry in permaculture at Jubilee Farm and is reveling in the role.

Sister Beth Murphy, who will tell you she loves gardening in theory, is the communications director for the Dominican Sisters of Springfield and F.L.O.W.cast producer.
